CARDIFF PLAY FORUM

The Cardiff Play Forum was set up to help & support Playworkers in Cardiff & is open to anyone involved in play.

We publish 6 Newsletters a year & put on 6 workshops a year.

If you would like to advertise a job vacancy or are looking for staff, or you provide training or workshops, you can advertise in the Newsletter & also on this page.

We combine the workshops with a short meeting, where you can find out about any new developments in the play field & network with like minded people.

PLAY THERAPY WORKSHOPS

The dates below are all new dates for 2008

Stepping Stones (Child Therapy Consultants) Ltd Workshops In Partnership with Re-create.

The following workshops have been designed as short introductory courses for professionals who would like to develop their understanding of various Therapeutic Approaches and Techniques to working with Children, Young People and their Families.

Each workshop last for 2 Hours and will take place at Stepping Stones Offices (4 Richmond Road, Cardiff, CF24 3AS). The cost per workshop is £35.00 (Voluntary organisations and students) and £45.00 (Private and Statutory organisations) Places are limited to 8 participants per workshop. This series of workshops will run between September 2008 and January 2009.

Workshop 1- An Introduction to Art Therapy

This workshop will explore the following:

• What is Art Therapy • Who would benefit from Art Therapy • Thinking about the impact of creativity (experiential learning)

Date: 30th September 2008 Time: 10-12 Facilitator: Lisa Finlayson, Art Therapist


Workshop 2 -An Introduction to Developmental Play

This workshop will explore the following:

• The developmental stages of play • EPR (Embodiment, Projective and Role Play) model developed by Sue Jennings, Play and Drama Therapist. • Types of play and their therapeutic meaning (for example, regression, nurturing play, conflict and so fourth)

Workshop 3-Creative Working to Enhance Communication

The workshop will explore the following:

• Creative working to both complement and offer an alternative to verbal communication • Using creative methods to express thoughts and feelings • Techniques and exercises to facilitate the communication process • Creative communication with different age groups

Date: 11th November 2008 Time: 10-12 Facilitator: Melody Cranbourne


Workshop 4-Guided Imagery Toolkit

This workshop will explore the following:

• Relaxation and imagery to promote wellbeing • Guided imagery to facilitate awareness and the expression of feelings • Relaxation and imagery techniques and exercises • Working with individuals and groups
